THREE SESSIONS, TIMES TO BE AGREED WITH THE SCHOOL
Targeting secondary school students (second cycle of ESO and Bachillerato)
Take a camera, start to record, focusing on what we don’t usually see. This activity takes a look at the possibilities of documentary recording to look at our surrounding environs. Starting out from exercises in observation and practice with recording, students will create documents on the present that will undoubtedly force them to adopt a stance with respect to the world. Throughout the three sessions comprising this workshop, students will work critically with processes of construction of the image and will debate aspects related with the collective imaginary and video.
In the first session, at CA2M, we will carry out exercises in recording which will afford the necessary tools to develop the following sessions. Where do we place the camera? What do we highlight? And for how long? We will analyse the videos as a form of raising awareness about the intuitive decisions inherent to our individual gaze.
In the second and third sessions, in which the educators will visit the school, we will work on an audiovisual project that will allow us to define an area of research and thus stop to think about the routines that underpin the various spaces in the school.
In this workshop for secondary schools, we ask ourselves: What gestures are hidden in the rows of bodies arranged in desks, in the bustle of changing classrooms, in the canteen and during the break? The creation of audiovisual pieces will provide a foundation on which to imagine other possible worlds through debates and the final video-actions.
