21:00 BOLO BLAS. Castizo Performance
Bolo Blas is a character from Toledo who lives in an extremely peaceful place where nothing seems to change. A place stylistically anchored in the 1970s, with cheap interiors and faux luxury, in sharp contrast with the outside world represented by Internet. Combining both worlds and the very duality of his life as a person and a persona, Bolo offers us a collection of images in which castizo elements of Spanish kitsch decoration are filtered and nuanced through the visual aesthetics of the new Internet. In his own words, “I’m no one in the street, but on Internet I make up my own stories.”

His project explores time and his relationship with his parents. He spends the whole day in Tumblr, sweeping his home, washing pots and pans, and cleaning his dog’s poo.

21:45 NINOS DU BRASIL. Concert
The duo formed by the artists Nico Vascellari and Nicolò Fortuni is a project whose origins and background are shrouded in mystery. It consists of a powerful mix of batucada and electronic music that has made their sporadic live performances legendary. A condensed and intense set, a blend of old school techno, spiritual choruses and carnival parades, combined with the intensity of hard-core and old school punk. Their tracks work as percussion weapons made up of congas, bells, jambé, rollers, plates, keys, maracas, whistles and odd animal calls. The goal is to encourage the audience to discover and adopt a sexual and instinctive approach to rhythm and life.

23:00 RIOBAMBA. DJ set
An Ecuadorian-Lithuanian producer, DJ and cultural activist based in Brooklyn. Her live sets capture the night as a space of joy and resistance. She is interconnected with the urban music movement through pioneers like Tego Calderón, Kap G, Rosa Pistola, Tomasa del Real, DJ Blass and DJVIVAEDIT. In 2017, Riobamba founded the label APOCALIPSIS, a platform conceived to lend visibility to the narratives of people who are “neither from here nor from there”. That same year it selected and co-produced Boiler Room the first reggaeton showcase. It offers ongoing musical training in a juvenile detention centre in Brooklyn, with a programme that emphasises the power of music to promote self-determination and entrepreneurial spirit.

21:00 PABLO ESBERT LILIENFELD. INVERTED DRAGON TEST. Performance
“This test was devised by Dragón Automático, hence its name. At the moment, it allows any post-obedient machine to conclude whether another machine subjected to the test is normal (alienated) or odd (alien). If the result is positive, the test makes it possible to determine that the machine is odd: a) because it is a woman, b) because it is not white and/or c) because it is an invert-fag.”
“More automation means more fiction.”

Test de Dragón Invertido* is a solo featuring dance, sound poetry, organic drum machine, autobiographic action, a story of speculative materialism, and a porous machine gun of bio-political fiction.

Pablo Esbert Lilienfeld is a choreographer and musician. He collaborates with his husband, the visual artist Federico Vladimir Strate Pezdirc, in an interconnected mesh of visual arts, documentary, electronic music, and dance. As a musician and performer he also works with Alessandro Sciarroni, Chiara Bersani, Marco D'Agostin, Manuel Rodríguez and Janet Novás. He is currently following the Research Studios programme at P.A.R.T.S., Brussels. www.pabloesbertlilienfeld.com

* With the collaboration of Federico Vladimir Strate Pezdirc, Ingrid Berger Myhre and Bojana Cvejic. The project was developed within the framework of the Research Studios programme in Performance Art Research and Training Studios (P.A.R.T.S.), Brussels, Belgium, with the support of the Scholarship for Furthering International Studies granted by Fundación SGAE 2017/2018 and Departures and Arrivals DNA (P.A.R.T.S.)

22:15 DANI UMPI. Concert
The work of Dani Umpi, the Uruguayan musician, writer and visual artist, is compulsive, hyperactive, multidisciplinary and boundary-breaking. It covers all the imaginable crossings that can take place between the cultural industry, popular culture, literature, music and visual arts. He operates from a self-parodic character: a hybrid between drag and conceptual performance.

22:00 #VIVAS. Public sound bank
“#VIVAS came about from a NEED to EXPRESS OURSELVES with a view to DECONSTRUCTING THE MECHANISMS OPERATING ON OUR BODIES in a cultural political system that bases its power on coercive physical, media and financial strength, killing us in symbolic and literal ways. O P E N I N G CHANNELS OF COLLECTIVE EXPRESSION from a reflexive sound output presented to us, encouraging us and bringing us together in new forms of joint creation, from particular and diverse sensibilities and needs.”

“#VIVAS is a digital mass-media HASHTAG which could have an effect on real life by creating links and social media between individuals wishing to expand together the boundaries of common sense. A PUBLIC SOUND BANK, a space for exchange and listening to contemporary sound recordings (field recordings, readings, testimonies, debates, percussion, melodies and any other sound which engages with these issues, free to be reused in the production of new sound expressions). A PLATFORM FOR THE DIFFUSION of the pieces resulting from the whole process, to join our voices and to let them be heard.”

22:00 JOÃO DOS SANTOS MARTINS & CYRIAQUE VILLEMAUX . EL ARTE DE ACOMODAR LAS SOBRAS. Danza

21:00 RITA INDIANA. SUITE CEMENTO. Remix reading

At the Picnic Sessions this Dominican writer and musical producer is presenting her Suite Cemento, an a cappella remix of the descriptions of her city taken from her five novels.

Rita Indiana is a Dominican writer, composer and singer. To date, she has published the following novels: La estrategia de Chochueca (2000), Papi (2004), Nombres y Animales (2014) and La Mucama de Omicunlé (2015), shortlisted for the 2016 Vargas Llosa novel biennial and the first Spanish-language novel to receive the Grand Prize of the Association of Caribbean Writers. Her writing and her music are inspired by Dominican popular and marginal culture and language, as well as by many Afro-Caribbean magical-religious traditions. In 2009 she reinvented merengue and other popular rhythms in electro fusions with her band Los Misterios. In her latest novel, Hecho en Saturno, the artist revisits the nostalgic relationships between Cuba and the Dominican Republic and the ideological devastation in both of them as a result of the main character’s treatment for heroin addiction at a clinic/hotel in Havana.

21:45 GARAT, SKRYCKY & TURENNE. ENTRE. Performance
After the premiere of their work PARDO, Garat, Skrycky and Turenne decided to continue exploring the conceptual foundations opened by that research. Taking various different approaches, they examine notions such as opacity, liminality and transposition, shifting towards a new poetic and aesthetic territory in their experimentations with light, corporality, the aural and the relational.

Based in Montevideo, Uruguay, Garat, Skrycky and Turenne are creators working with live art. Their practice pursues a shared aesthetic and ethical approach, researching modes of stage production and collaborative rationales based on possible relationships between different artistic languages. They are currently involved in further developing the line of research opened in their first co-creative piece, PARDO.

21:00 QUEER FLAMENCO. I WAS STONE AND LOST MY CENTRE
Artists: Luis Ortega (dancer), Lidón Patiño (dancer), Joaquín Ruiz (dancer), Antonia Jiménez (guitar), Noelia Heredia (box and vocals), Caridad Vega (vocals) and Pablo Maldonado (piano)

mi centro vine a encontrar

“Flamenco with artists in Madrid. Perhaps the dance, song, touch and colour of flamenco will discover a place of resistance, movement, life, sincere gestures. Flamenco as gender. Let’s name ourselves in olé.”

20:30 JULIM ROSA. FOREVER. Participative performance
FOREVER is a participative performance which uses tattoos as a medium to question the human notion of eternity. The action consists of systematically tattooing the word “forever” onto participants wishing to take part in the project. In a society as spontaneous and changing as today’s, there are few things we commit ourselves to for life, and that gives the idea of “forever” a romantic and idealistic sense. However, there is one thing we are all pretty sure about: our body will accompany our consciousness until the end of our lives.

Julim Rosa draws questions concerning time and physical and mental change on people’s skin. Rosa works with different media, including audiovisuals, drawing and tattoos. Her projects have also been connected to research and production in communication systems.

21:00 ÓSCAR BUENO & ANTO RODRÍGUEZ. Performance
This is the first test in a tutorial that provides keys to viewing a video. To see a video we need, in principle: an eye or, at the very least, some sensorial receptor that operates minimally [a lot of doubts about this]; the contraption that emits the video in the event that it has to be emitted to be seen [for instance, a video in digital format would also require, apart from what we all know, some extension of our body or a remote body that activates it (namely, a finger or perhaps a voice or voices,...)]; a distance from the video [be it a short distance, a fusion with ourselves or a remote distance]; a place where to watch the video [my house, your place, this terrace, Park Güell, among others]; a bowl, a pothos with its leaves eaten, a floor or similar; and, for the moment, that should be enough.

Anto creates his own pieces, especially for the stage. He works in Artea, an association of researchers in the performing arts. He is about to get his doctorate from UCLM and he also teaches in different places. He would like to dedicate himself fulltime to supporting creative processes. Besides, he has worked with artists like Juan Dominguez, Cuqui Jerez, María Jerez, Cris Blanco, Amalia Fernández, and so on. Óscar makes his own pieces and is also a musician. He accounts for a percentage of Es Poderío Vital, alongside Itxaso Corral and other cells. He supports people’s processes, composes, and watches gameplays. He has also worked with artists like Cris Blanco, Amalia Fernández, María Jerez, Cuqui Jerez, etc.

22:00 LINN DA QUEBRADA. Concert
Fag, trans, black and peripheral. Neither actor nor actress, atrocious. Dancer, performer and gender terrorist are some of the references to Linn da Quebrada who now also uses music as a tool for social transformation and as a powerful weapon in the fight to destroy social paradigms. With political, powerful, danceable lyrics, Linn da Quebrada’s show is a fusion of protest, visual arts and a lot of dance.

Las year she published her first album, Pajubá, which speaks about the life and rights of Brazil’s LGBT community, exploring music genres including funk, rap, fashion and the global ghetto.
