The reader Lecturas de verano (Summer readings)  contains seven texts on the concepts of novelty, taste, failure and convention. All of them are related in one way or another to the notion of “expectation”, the conceptual umbrella underpinning the exhibition. The purpose of the texts, most of which were written specially for the occasion, is not so much to illustrate these concepts as to challenge and question them.

The publication came out before the show opened and offers a type of “reading template” for the exhibition, a set of possible approaches to understanding the practices and works on display. In spite of the functional nature of the book and its inevitable dependence on the exhibition it precedes, it aspires to become a source for future reference and a catalyst for new reflections and writings by those who read it.
