SUNDAY 8 FEBRUARY, 6.30 pm
Performative lecture. Premiere in Madrid. 52 min.
Whatever you choose to do, you're the protagonist. This is one of the premises of P.O.V. (or “point of view”), a recurring meme that has accustomed us to performing different perspectives, putting ourselves in someone else’s shoes. Using a visual archive that explores hysteria (historically attributed to women), mythology and pop culture references, the proposal is presented as a space for experimentation where positions, images and words clash, are tensed and overflow. The piece examines the mechanisms through which bodies are classified and performed: how a gesture becomes an image, how an image is transformed into a caption, how a caption crystallises an identity. In this process, visibility is not neutral but constructs stories, hierarchies and forms of perception that condition the way in which we look at each other and how we ourselves are looked at.
For the soundtrack of this piece, Núria has collaborated with the music producer Uge Pañeda, aka OKKRE.
