JON MIKEL EUBA. ANIMALS THAT SUPPORT THE WEIGHT OF MYSTERIOUS BURDENS IN ENVIRONMENTS CREATED BY OPPOSING FORCES
Animals That Support the Weight of Mysterious Burdens in Environments Created by Opposing Forces is an artist’s book that grew out of Jon Mikel Euba’s exhibition at Museo Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo, held from 19 January to 23 April 2023.
The publication features texts on the exhibition by curator Manuel Segade and Jon Mikel Euba, as well as further essays by Euba exploring the original project that gave rise to the exhibition, the origins of its title and the “forces” encountered in the galleries of Museo CA2M—a series of interventions within the fabric of the building, developed through an analysis of the museum’s spaces as a form of in situ documentation
The first one-man show to be held in an institutional art centre since the year 2003. Many of the sculptures materially specify some of those possibilities in a series of gestures in the body of the building, in the form of in situ documentation exercises.
