- RODRÍGUEZ-MÉNDEZ. HUMORES Y ESPESORES
Published to accompany the exhibition Rodríguez-Méndez. Humores y Espesores at Museo CA2M, the book features essays by Marta Mestre, Thibaut Verhoeven and Laura Vallés Vílchez, as well as a conversation between the artist and the curator.
Designed by Joaquín Gáñez and co-published with Caniche, the 240-page volume brings together works spanning some twenty years of Rodríguez-Méndez’s practice, including sculptures, series, installations and actions, many of which have been shown previously, alongside others presented here for the first time.
A separate artist’s publication, Las orillas [The Shores], brings together forty images from an ongoing project conceived specifically for this exhibition. It follows in the tradition of earlier publications such as Casas gallegas [Galician Houses] (2008) and Hombres sentados [Seated Men] (2010).
It presents a succinct overview of his artistic production, recovering different works that have marked his work in some way since the early 2000s. At the same time, coexisting with this journey is a group of new works that, based on a highly personal vision of sculptural language, are displayed through spatially specific installations, newly produced pieces, performative actions and series that are added to some of those already produced in recent years.
