CURATOR ALBERTO MARTÍ

CO-PRODUCTION BETWEEN THE LABORAL CENTRO DE ARTE Y CREACIÓN INDUSTRIAL AND CA2M CENTRO DE ARTE DOS DE MAYO

Auto. Dream and Matter analyses the presence of the car in contemporary art. Featuring over 100 works by 60 artists from both Spain and abroad, the exhibition explores the relationship between car culture and artistic creation in recent decades. Nearly all of the works on display were produced in the last two decades but with a firm emphasis on the present day. During this time, the artistic approach to and the interpretation of the car have gradually become denser and more complex, as well as critical and detachedly acerbic. The car has always been one of the most effective media for the material embodiment of dreams, and this is still true today. Now, however, artists question the reality of those dreams.
