COLLECTION CAPSULE: TERESA LANCETA

Lanceta defends the importance of weaving techniques and advocates placing weaving on a par with painting and sculpture. She argues that the “peripheral position of fabrics is not just metaphorical, but a reality, because societies that still weave are also peripheral, punishing cultures that could become models of artistic sustainability by combining use and art.” She has explored traditional forms of weaving and applied them to her work. This tapestry belongs to the period when she lived between Seville and Marrakesh. During this time she worked with geometric forms as an expression of landscape, albeit breaking its rigidity.

CA2M Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo exhibits capsules of its collection, placed in transitory spaces throughout the museum, displaying works on a quasi-permanent basis.
