Colección IV

The CA2M Art Collection, composed of nearly 1500 artworks and constantly growing, is a testimony of the art evolution from the 80´  to the present  with special attention to the Madrid and Spanish context, introduces pieces which continue the fate of their artists, galleries and exhibitions.

One of CA2M objective is working with its entire art collection: preserving, studying, exhibiting and bringing it closer to the public through educational activities. An art collection is a way of building a worldview, a way of weaving a narrative out of the combined significance of all its artworks and of all its lines, more or less visible, that link them together. With this idea in mind, CA2M shows its holdings in rotating exhibitions giving meaning to the whole collection.

Collection  IV coincides in time with the exhibition of the German artist, Gregor Scheider and his intalation Punto Muerto –Deadlock-located in the first and second floor of the museum. Collection  IV entails reflection on the perspective of the architectonic, real and fictitious spaces. Through paints, photographs, sculpture and videos, it is explored the different perceptions of inhabited spaces and how are those spaces understood from the everydayness and strangeness. Many of the exhibited pieces show spaces from our every-day life, easy to recognize, which lead to uncertainty or mystery, provoking some concern to the visitor.

Miren Doiz fuses the architectonic space with the pictorial one, inviting the visitor to feel the picture as a real something. Jorge Ribalta creates a museum inside a museum using a series of miniatures. Francesc Torres reflects on the identity by mean of series of inhabited flat photographs.

The exhibition is round up with artworks from Valentín Vallhonrat, Alberto García Alix, Susana Solano, Georges Rousse, Jaume Pitarch, Miki Leal, Sofía Jack, Elmgreen & Dragset, Vicente Blanco, María Zárraga, Miren Doiz, Gunther Förg, Isidro Blasco, Victor Pimstein, Peter Piller and  Ricardo Valentim.
