THE COMMUNITY OF MADRID PRESENTS ARTIST FOD WITH THE 2026 ESTAMPA AWARD
24 September 2026—The Community of Madrid has presented the 2026 ESTAMPA Award to artist FOD (Francisco Olivares, Puerto Lumbreras, Murcia, 1973) for Cuernos (2019), a work exhibited by T20 gallery that will be acquired by the regional government for the collection of Museo Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo (CA2M) in Móstoles. Mariano de Paco Serrano, Regional Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sport, presented the award today, noting that through this distinction associated with the ESTAMPA art fair, the regional government supports contemporary art, the work of galleries and the promotion of contemporary artistic practice. First presented in 2008, the award is given each year to an artist exhibiting at the fair in recognition of the distinctive nature of their work and enables works by emerging artists to enter the CA2M collection.
The jury highlighted the strength of FOD’s artistic approach, which draws on avant-garde movements ranging from Constructivism to the found object. It also praised his combination of seemingly unrelated materials, which lends the work a poetic quality tinged with critical humour. The jury comprised José Lebrero Stals, member of the Community of Madrid’s Advisory Committee for the Acquisition of Works of Art; Carlos Delgado Mayordomo, cultural manager, curator and contemporary art critic; Manuel Lagos, Director-General for Culture and Creative Industries; Tania Pardo, Director of CA2M; Juana Arana, Visual Arts Adviser at the Regional Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sport; and Asunción Cardona, Deputy Director-General for Fine Arts.
