Clara Sánchez Sala (Alicante, 1987) is a multidisciplinary artist whose approach revolves around personal exploration and investigation into femininity and its symbols, using sculpture as her primary medium of expression. She uses materials that forge an intimate connection with the human body in her works, redefining or situating it within the context of our culture.
Clara holds a bachelor’s in Fine Arts from the UCLM, a master’s in Theory of Photography and Artistic Projects from the UEM and a master’s in Art and Creation Research from the UCM. Maya Pita-Romero (1999) is a visual artist with a degree in Fine Arts. Through installation and sculpture, she investigates the transformations of ecosystems and their connection to bodily processes. Her work explores intimacy through monstrosity, the abject, fear, tenderness, and delicacy. She articulates new imaginaries and forms of care through fiction, where our bodies and nature intertwine with traditional practices. Her pieces are composed of organic elements and materials that change, mutate, and evolve over time—plants and textiles that, when combined with components like latex, acquire different flexibilities and formal possibilities, delving into the similarities between human bodies and the plant world.
Her work has been presented at institutions such as Matadero Madrid, La Escocesa, Museo Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo (CA2M), Fundació Joan Miró, and independent spaces like Casa Antillón. She has been awarded the Prize of the 33rd Edition of Circuitos de Artes Plásticas by the Community of Madrid, curated by Violeta Janeiro, as well as the WeNow Young Artists Award. She participated in the ARCO 2025 art fair with El Chico. In 2024, she held her first solo exhibition, From Within, It Seems Something Sprouts, at El Chico; she has also taken part in group exhibitions at Galería Pradiauto (as part of the acquisition prize from Nebrija University), the Círculo de Bellas Artes, and i23 Gallery.
