Infrastructure brings together a series of photographs that the artist Xabier Salaberria has taken of different things, from raw materials to those which, due to their transformation or compositional elements, fall into the category of socially constituted objects. Each element is photographed to offer a top view, the elevation and profile.
Its three-dimensional volume is created using an essentially flat medium: photography. Although it may seem like a technical exercise, his objective is not so, and the whole ends up creating oscillations between estrangement and rapprochement, distance and affection.
The book reproduces the way in which the artist approaches the exhibition space itself and how his work can be perceived in it.
This book, published by Caniche editorial, was designed to be part of the exhibition of the same name. Curated by Catalina Lozano and co-designed by Patxi Eguíluzheld, it ran from February to May 2023 at the Museo Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo.
