Belén Uriel (Madrid, 1974) develops an artistic practice that revolves around everyday objects and ordinary architectural elements which she transforms into sculptures by a series of different methods, questioning how certain social and cultural values are inscribed in our material culture.

This exhibition, entitled Javier Utray. An Anamorphic Portrait, curated by Mariano Navarro and Andrés Mengs, aspires to serve as a homage and memorial to this multifaceted artist. It also aims to highlight the significance and uniqueness of Utray’s creative personality.

HALIL ALTINDERE

A través de sus vídeos, fotografías, pinturas y esculturas, Halil Altındere analiza la realidad de su país, Turquía, al subrayar las tensiones que generan los binomios de tradición / modernidad, nación / identidad y sociedad / gobierno. Al mismo tiempo, presta atención a las nociones de comunidad y control indagando en la naturaleza del poder. La exposición del CA2M repasó su trabajo siguiendo tres líneas básicas: su posicionamiento ante la evolución de la sociedad turca contemporánea, la actitud del artista ante un mundo del arte globalizado y el importante papel de Halil Altındere en la escena artística turca.

Sin motivo aparente (For no apparent reason) is a collective exhibition showcasing the work of over thirty Spanish and International artists with the single objective of reviewing the relationship between art and public within a context, the CA2M venue, Center where the viewer has been CA2M main objective since its opening five years ago.

In the XX century, the issue of the body has had a unique prominent role within the art history and visual culture. CA2M showcases part of its extensive image collection (photographies, videographics and others) of the body by a serial of artists from different decades and years since mid-XX century to the present.

RABIH MROUÉ

CA2M holds Rabih Mroué´s first solo exhibition in Spain. Mroué (Lebanon, 1967) developed his career as director, playwright, performer, essayist and visual artist, his work always reflects on the use of images for (and against) official narratives: from the Lebanese geopolitical reality to the massive production of images of the Syrian revolution.

La exposición constó de cuatro videoinstalaciones que, al igual que toda la obra de Aernout Mik, tienen puntos de contacto con el cine, la performance, la escultura y la arquitectura. La dimensión performática de la exposición en el CA2M quedó además reforzada por una acción en la que grupos de personas llevaron a cabo una sutil interacción con las obras y el propio espacio expositivo.

Sin heroísmos, por favor
NO HEROICS, PLEASE

No Heroics, Please is the title of a posthumous compilation of short stories written by the American novelist and poet Raymond Carver during his youth. The exhibition, does credit to the book, focus on the idea of the demystification of the creative act, considering that the proper creation itself is a heroic and claiming act, in this case, the importance of the daily happenings considered as daily militancy.

TELLING EVERYTHING, NOT KNOWING HOW

Telling everything, Not Knowing How comes around to the view of narrativity with the intention of asking what can be done and what can be told from the art side, which role plays the emotion within the narrative and also which fiction, reality, political and social contents appear within the contemporary creation.
