In the coming months, the exhibitions will be full of objects that we will be able to fly over, contemplate from above or close up. We suggest wandering among them, finding refuge under them, letting them move you to see what the encounter brings. We invite you to enjoy this collective experience, which is open to all kinds of groups.

Each trail will be different, deciding on the route as we go. Choose the trail you want to take; perhaps Susana Solano's previously-unseen canvases recently acquired for the CA2M Museum collection, or Cristina Garrido's research into the art system through 100 artist biographies. Discover Adolfo Schlosser's ecological side with his Bóveda installation, an investigation into organic materials that was already ahead of the curve in terms of sculptural interests and trends in the 1990s.

If you prefer, follow a trail through The Violet Hour, the exhibition dedicated to Juan Muñoz on the seventieth anniversary of his birth. The violet hour is the hour of art and of the exhibition visitor, an hour in which shadow creeps in to conquer the day. Learn about Muñoz’s early creative period and his interests in surveillance architecture, archaeology, hearing, domestic interiors, theatre, poetry and his optical floors...

On Tuesday and Thursday mornings, we invite you to spend some time with us in this refuge, where we can step back and find shelter from the elements.

This programme is designed for all types of groups: Associations, organisations or educational groups of up to 30 people.

Booking required. Contact 912760227 or at educacion.ca2m@madrid.org

Our interest in these temporary encounters is to focus on the construction of knowledge through experience, rather than on the transmission of knowledge. We will start from the viewers’ point of view and how they see art at present. This will allow us to turn this time into a space for encounter in which the participants are not objects receiving an education, but subjects who collectively develop a critical discourse on contemporary works of art. In this way, visits will focus on a limited number of works in order to give rise to a more profound and open reflection, thus avoiding the more superficial exhibition itinerary and the idea of a single discourse.

A star enters twilight when, due to the effect of the rotation of the planet, it crosses the plane of the horizon and passes from the visible to the invisible hemisphere. In the case of the Sun this marks the end of the day. Sunset is a pale tint of orange. A completely imprecise and ambiguous representation of colour that happens fleetingly during twilight. The first use of sunset as the name of colour dates back to 1916.

In this brief meet-up at the museum we are going to create a space for leisurely contemplation. We will take a slow walkthrough enlivened with stories about colour, the work of Mitsuo Miura and actions that happen with light. Over the course of the visit, we will look more intently, we will try to stimulate our pupils in order to perceive differently and we will talk a lot, an awful lot, about colour. We will take a tour of the museum through its spectrum of colours, we will submerge ourselves in its light and the geometries, and we will go up to the roof terrace at the exact time to contemplate the mysterious colour of the sky at the moment when the sun disappears from Móstoles.

Agustín Pérez Rubio, co-curator of the exhibition, invites us to join him on a tour to discover and talk about the various layers of the work of the US-Chinese artist Martin Wong.

On this guided walkthrough with the curator we are invited to participate and revisit a particular time and place that were seminal for the social relations of class, race and sexual orientation in the USA in the 1980s and 90s especially in the area of New York City known as Loisaida and its social reality of criminality, street culture, graffiti and drugs.

Wong proffered himself as a vehicle to open up the debate on the representation of sexual and cultural minorities in art, particularly the Asian and Latino minorities in the USA.

We will glean an insight into “the Bad Chinese” as he called himself, through an analysis of the sociological and political aspects of his work, and, in doing so, underscoring the transfer of language to the medium of painting, the complex mesh of multiple cultures, his interest in systems of language and the symbolism of the people he portrayed.

If you accept the invitation we will share impressions and resonances with our own experiences.

Manuel Segade and Tania Pardo guide us through the exhibition called Dialecto CA2M – made up of the CA2M Collection and the ARCO Foundation Collection – to introduce us to a century of contemporary art history in Madrid but told from Móstoles.

The stories and anecdotes about the works on display are interwoven with the way they are displayed; with the change of lighting, the colours of the walls or via posters with unusual information about the artworks.

It’s not a question of seeing the exhibition with its protagonists but of them accompanying us on a collective journey through a public collection that belongs to all the inhabitants of the Autonomous Community of Madrid.

The fact that we talk to each other as a museum is a way of showing that what seems to be ours is really yours.

After months without being able to be physically present in the museum, we are now returning to our performative walkthroughs in order to recover a shared closeness in our exhibitions. We will have to relearn how to move simultaneously through the exhibition halls, to keep our distance while remaining close, to invent new ways of looking after each other, of listening to one another and to share. To this end, the walkthroughs will be limited to a maximum of 10 people. Wednesdays at 7:00 pm and Sundays at 12:30 pm we will explore the exhibition Absurd Humour: A Constellation of Folly in Spain and Saturdays at 7:00 pm Francesc Ruiz. Panal.

To enrol, send a message to educacion.ca2m@madrid.org or call 91 276 02 21. You can also turn up personally at the museum and, if there is still room, you can join the walkthrough, simply leaving your personal details at reception. We are taking all these measures in order to look after one another, and we must be aware that they may be modified with the changing situation. We’re really looking forward to taking these walkthroughs of the museum with you once again.

RESOURCES

From the collection catalogued on our web, we propose ways of looking and position-taking, of listening to one another, and to thus mutate into a body that takes shape among the images. Through motion, making with your hands, thinking in a low voice, giving it your all dancing, stopping for a pause, losing yourself, reading with other authors, answering questions, we propose a series of places and images to look at the collection as much together as we can.
