Exhibition—
Miguel Trillo. Doble exposición revisits the artist’s first two solo exhibitions, held at Galería Ovidio (PopPurri. Dos años de música pop en Madrid) in 1982 and at Sala Amadís (Fotocopias. Madrid-London) in 1983. The idea behind the project is to rethink the displays which Trillo used to exhibit his work, removed from the more conventional methods employed to show photography in the few spaces receptive to the discipline back in the early eighties.
-
Exhibition—
Absurd Humour defines a new constellation of absurd humoristic practices in Spain. Starting out from Goya’s Disparates (The Follies), we take a look at the 20th and 21st centuries through the optic of Ramón Gómez de la Serna in order to espy different artists and humoristic ideas produced in Spain up until the current moment in time.
-

BUT... IS THIS ART?
As we all know, ‘what is and what is not’ is a question of as, how and when. It might be that art is, exists, without us people. It is more than likely.

Editorial project

Fire Trees
Clay, earth, can be fired to make all sorts of vessels and containers. Water evaporates and the material hardens, a transformation provoked by fire. We want to undertake a project to experiment with this whole process.
-

Roof terrace garden workshop
The CA2M’s roof garden has been up and running for seven years, a time during which we have lived through an intense process in which many people have taken part, making it a meeting point predicated on working together and sharing know-how. Today, the community formed around the roof garden at CA2M is taking on the challenge of opening up to new people without forgetting the research and experimentation that motivates existing members of the community.

-
WorkshopAll school year 2020 - 2021
This workshop proposes entering those places at school where we have never been before and to reveal them through the camera as undiscovered settings you’ve never seen, or maybe you have, perhaps in a movie.
-
Editorial projectTHROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR
A box of fanzines published by women, a shelf of books classified by weight or colour, an envelope with tiny publications... A library can be almost anything.
-
WorkshopDurante el curso escolar
We are going to put ourselves in an unexpected position. It is possible that we end up teaching something that we didn’t know how to do before and somebody whistles loudly for the first time. This could lead to something odd and makes us think for a moment about ways of teaching removed from the academy and art, or that might drive us crazy trying to separate everything from the rules. Or maybe not. We are going to put ourselves in an unexpected position and see whether something changes.
-
Teacher training
A group of teachers and people interested in education who are also fascinated by audiovisuals decided to look out the window together. This is where we wanted to start, looking with fresh eyes, listening with attention to little things and touching film with our own hands.
-

Exhibition
CA2M is now implementing the #Unmetroymedio project, which consists in getting artists who are resident in the Region of Madrid to explain to us what they are working on during confinement. Availing of the domestic means at hand, they will express their ideas through texts and images or will simply tell us how they are and talk about the possible futures that face us.
-
Exhibition
Among the various artistic interventions contingent on the exercises in architectural acupuncture begun in autumn 2016 at CA2M, Dora García has conceived an exhibition which takes the form of new signage in a permanent intervention that involves all the art centre’s various spaces.
-
—
The pieces in this exhibition, from the CA2M and Fundación ARCO collections, enable us to trace the history of the use of textiles in contemporary art from the 70s to the present day.
-
Exhibition—
In museums like ours, experience appeals to the whole body, with its distinctive features, its desires and different possibilities. Performance is the way contemporary art refers to artistic productions that place the body, its articulation of presence and the temporality of its actions, at the heart of its proposal.
-
—
The background on which this exhibition is literally outlined is the work De entre las muertas [From the Dead] (2020) by the artist Diana Larrea, who has traced the margins of History of Art to restore forgotten genealogies of women artists from the Renaissance up to the beginning of the 20th century. These women artists are joined by other ones from younger generations enabling us to think in the present tense.

Teacher training15 - 18 SEPTEMBER 2020 | 16:00 - 19:00
The workshop proposes a space in which we can rehearse the future(s) while dancing through different bodily practices, opening up a field of experimentation around the body (its uses, materialities and implications) and associating the experience with educational and learning spaces both inside and outside the classroom.
-
Teacher training20, 21, 22 & 23 APRIL | 17:00 — 20:00

This project arose from exploring an obsession that morphed over time and that many people throughout history have experienced. We are referring to invisibility. Where does it come from? How can we become invisible, manage to vanish – dissolve – to not be seen or detected?

A group of children meet every Tuesday after school with the dancer Elena Córdoba to try out and create new dances.
-
WorkshopApril- May2021
Now that normality has become the strangest of things and we know that strangeness is normal, we adapt like chameleons to propose an activity aimed at primary school students.
-
WorkshopTHROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR
This is a workshop to create our own carnival; to transform ourselves into sonic beings, into wonderful creatures with fantastic movements. A workshop that encourages desires to flow freely, to reimagine how we can move, how we can dream; to create other roles and new realities that allow us to question—through sound, visuals and movement—our surrounding reality and how we live in it.
-
WorkshopWEDNESDAYS FROM 18 OCTOBER
This activity is aimed at groups of primary school children and their teachers, who will have an opportunity to take part in an action in which communication exists, but in an alternative way, and where attention is based on logics other than conventional ones: What would happen if adults didn’t ask us to be quiet for the next two hours?
-
Audiovisual project2016 — 2017 SCHOOL YEAR
CA2M has invited the filmmaker Pili Álvarez and the researcher Mercedes Álvarez to undertake research on the project by the El Banquete collective within its Artist at Work artist-in-residence programme. The goal is to produce an audiovisual work that will examine the project’s critical and practical challenges. .
-
Workshop2016 — 2017 SCHOOL YEAR
The project will involve the whole school, focusing on the work of two different years in primary school as well as the parents who wish to be involved. Together we will all imagine new forms of functioning and of intervention in the space in a primary school.
-
2016 - 2017 SCHOOL YEAR
4 minutes and 300 metres is all that separates us from the nearest public school. The closeness with the art centre means that its teachers, students, and parents are part of the very fabric of the museum itself.
-
WorkshopFRIDAY 24 JUNE.
As part of our ongoing long-term policy, this school year we ran three artist residencies in three public schools on the outskirts of Madrid: María Jerez in CP Parque Aluche, the El Banquete collective in CP Juan Pérez Villamil and Amalia Fernández in CP Beato Simón de Rojas, these last two in Móstoles.
-
WorkshopSCHOOL YEAR 2015 — 2016
During this school year María Jerez, accompanied by an artist who does not speak Spanish, will attend the school with the intention of getting the children to teach the language to this “illiterate” individual; as such, this process will turn the usual logic and roles of teaching inside out. For this project, the artist and her companion will explore along with the children how a language can arise from the encounter between people who do not speak the same language.
-
Workshop2016 — 2017 SCHOOL YEAR
For the 2015-2016 school year the El Banquete group and the pupils from sixth year undertook the collective construction of a pyramid in a corner of the Juan Pérez Villaamil public school in Móstoles. Its mission was to generate a space that would afford other ways of inhabiting and rethinking utopia.
-
WorkshopWEDNESDAYS STARTING IN NOVEMBER 2016
Can silence be fun? In this one-session school workshop Nilo Gallego and Magda Labarga will help us to explore the possibilities of listening, rhythm and noise, as well as their connections with the city and urban life.
-
WorkshopTUESDAYS, NOV 2015 — APR 2016
This project is based on the need to work with the communities close to the museum through ongoing activities that will create long-lasting, stable and flexible relations. For the fifth year running we are organising a laboratory for creative after-school hours for students in the third cycle of primary school.
-
WorkshopWEDNESDAYS, FROM JANUARY 2016
In this workshop we will be borrowing from the Situationists to rethink what noises have to tell us and how they relate to our everyday experience. Hearing, the drift, the museum and the city will be our main tools to explore the limits of sound.
-
ExhibitionJANUARY — FEBRUARY 2015
Over the months of January and February, primary school students will have the chance to visit the Carlos Garaicoa exhibition at the CA2M in an unexpected way.
-
WorkshopSCHOOL YEAR 2014 – 2015
This year we will begin a new line of work in which two artists will undertake two art projects in two public centres in the suburbs of Madrid. Given the disappearance of art teaching from formal education, we consider it an interesting challenge to introduce artists into educational institutions with a view to developing multidisciplinary projects involving subjects that, in theory, are not associated with art.
-
WorkshopTUESDAYS NOV 2014— MAR 2015
Musician Nilo Gallego has created a space of experimentation, where every Tuesday, a group of local children gather. Every week, they work on listening, and learn about the possibilities of experimental sound and of expanded theater.
-
WorkshopSCHOOL YEAR 2014 – 2015
This school year, we also offer third year primary school groups the chance to take part in a complementary workshop session in their school. This way, the groups will participate in an initial session in CA2M in which they will focus on the Morning Session (screening and direct animation workshop) followed by a film with camera workshop and stop motion in the classroom.
-
WorkshopTUESDAYS NOV — MAR 2014
This Project emphasizes the need to work closely with the neighborhood near the museums offering long-lasting activities to generate stable, flexible and lasting relationships. For third year in a row, CA2M strengthen collaboration with Beato Simón de Rojas School, the closest one to the museum. Alongside the activities designed for the school, CA2M will also offer an extracurricular activity for Third cycle pupils. This time, filmmaker Pilar Álvarez will drive the Project together with CA2M educators.
-
Workshop2013 – 2014 ACADEMIC YEAR
From its start, cinema has been known as one of most fascinating educative means, not only for the subjects and issues raised, but for its imaginary creation capacity and for encouraging new habits of active and critical perception. For the purpose of providing an alternative to those audiovisual dominant products, those that reinforce that consumption behavior and few times lead to reflection, CA2M has created this activity.
-
Workshop2012 – 2013 ACADEMIC YEAR
This workshop is within the scope of the CA2M long-term activities developed for educational centers, in particular with those schools surrounding CA2M, with the intent to strengthen collaboration ties with diverse educational agents. For a second year, the activity targets third year students from primary education schools closest to CA2M. This time, La Sonidera will lead this project.

The triptych, made up of three equal sections, has been part of the collection since 1996. It has been housed in different locations since it its creation in 1984, and its display at the Sao Paulo Biennial in 1985. These relocations, together with the consequent changes in the environmental conditions that this entailed, have led to a series of alterations being carried out on the work.

In the summer of 1959 the Estonian non-fiction film producer and opera singer Friedrich Jürgenson and his partner tried to record the birdsong of a finch in order to use it in one of their documentaries. TOUCHING BLUES BY AIMAR PÉREZ GALÍ
In late 2015, the Spanish choreographer and performer Aimar Pérez Galí began to study the impact of the AIDS epidemic on the dance community in Spain and Latin America. The resulting work, which makes use of the practice of ‘contact improvisation’, was built as a conversation with the ghosts of those who are no longer with us. This year, in which we are in the midst of a new pandemic, marks 40 years since HIV’s first emergence; once again, touch has become forbidden. This fact brings a fresh relevance to this project, which first took shape at a performance workshop for teachers at CA2M three years ago.

Image Symposium5, 6 and th JULY
One year later, the question that underpins these conferences, challenges us, if possible, even more directly For which bodies, for what histories. In the face of the general uncertainty and the absolute lack of historical precedence that we are going through, this question confronts us with the contingency of history in the materiality of our bodies given the very violence that a brutal and savage irruption like this pandemic entails. We are confident that the curatorial threads - which were once amassed with rigour and care, and which are now being taken up again with the understanding of a vital transformation - continue to make sense.

A FLEETING ENCOUNTER
Aimed at secondary school students, this visit-workshop focuses on the act of painting, and more specifically on thinking about colours. If you give them time, colours become mysterious. Many of them came about initially as pigments for artistic painting; sometimes their names refer to the geographical regions where they were first used or found, or to the minerals and chemical substances used in their composition.
